We support World Autism Awareness Day! That’s why we are lighting it up blue! To help raise awareness, we are giving away 3 copies of CARLY’S VOICE, the story of Carly Fleischmann, an inspiring young woman that broke the barriers of non-verbal autism.
Carly Fleischmann at the CARLY’S VOICE book launch in Toronto. Congratulations to Carly and her father Arthur! More pictures: http://on.fb.me/Hk8UPp
A glimpse into CARLY’S VOICE, available March 27th.
At the age of two, Carly was diagnosed with severe autism and developmental delay. Doctors predicted that she would never intellectually develop beyond the abilities of a small child. As the years went by, Carly remained unable to speak, unreachable. Then, at the age of ten, she had a breakthrough by typing on her laptop “HELP TEETH HURT.” By the time she was twelve, her family finally started to catch a glimpse of who she truly was. Although Carly, now seventeen, cannot speak in the traditional sense, she communicates through typing and online conversation with family members, therapists, and the thousands of fans who follow her via her blog, Facebook, and Twitter.
Carly is a fierce advocate for autism awareness, and in CARLY’S VOICE – one of the first books to explore firsthand the challenges of living with autism – Arthur Fleishmann, Carly’s father, blends Carly’s own words with his story of getting to know his remarkable daughter.
